Ten ways to make Coursework less flat

The same real data on every one: Priya Shah, Tuesday 2 February, week 5 of 8. Each keeps one line of detail per row and the state in words. Long lists are cut to a few rows here so the ten are easy to compare.

  1. 1Session cards with the cover

Each session is a white card with its week picture down the left edge; finished sessions shrink to a small card with a green tick.

  2. 2A ring per session

A small ring beside each session name fills as work is accepted, with the hours counted on the right; accepted rows fold away.

  3. 3Three columns

To do · Waiting to be marked · Accepted. Work sent back sits at the top of To do in amber, so you see who is holding what.

  4. 4The course path

The eight sessions as stops down a line, “You are here” on session 5; open work hangs off its stop, finished stops are a tick.

  5. 5Next up

The one most urgent assignment as a big card with its picture and one button; everything else as compact rows below.

  6. 6The hours meter

A big meter of the 90 hours, one block per assignment; the dashed blocks are what you could add, and each open row says “+4 hours”.

  7. 7Colour chips by state

Each row leads with a coloured chip and icon (amber changes needed, brown overdue, sage accepted); bolder titles.

  8. 8Track tabs

Everyone · Sales · Ops · Legal · Marketing as illustrated tabs; any-time assignments become tiles with a small picture. Try the tabs.

  9. 9Week strip

The eight week pictures in a strip with ticks on finished weeks; pick one and its assignments show underneath. Try picking a week.

  10. 10Numbered stops

Each session is a short numbered checklist: ticks for accepted, the next stop gently pulsing, “2 of 3 handed in · 4 hours to earn”.
